Not sure if it was original equipment to the car, but interesting regardless.
Speaking of which, here’s the car that’s attached to it:
2000 Camry Gracia wagon; 2.5L 2MZ-FE V6, AWD, and low KMs. I want it.
Find it

I think the minidiscs wended up being a lot bigger in Japan than they were elsewhere.

Pretty much only Japan. I was the weirdo that was using them well into 2009. Great format once you could transfer mp3s to them, crazy durable & awsome battery life

I was right there with you actually. I think I got rid of them all now ... or maybe they’re still in the basement?

Minidiscs were standard on many cars... My in-laws had a Subaru R2 with one. They got also fairly popular in France as many friends of mine had some.

Haven’t seen a mini disk player in years

I still have a couple of portable MiniDisk players hanging out in the attic and I would love to grab an old MiniDisk head unit to stick in my old truck. Granted I have to admit I a weird obsession with old tech.

I still have a fairly large collection of them, a couple portable players, and a sony 5md changer bookshelf system that I still use. Haven’t listened to the md’s in years though.
